This blog originated as a writing outlet for my work as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Indonesia. My original intention was to feature my learning about another culture while sharing my own culture, bringing experiences home as a means to progress cross-cultural understanding.
My goal was to allow others to glimpse my incidents and adventures so that they may also become in some way enlightened about another place, far, far away. I wanted to show that different isn’t bad. Different is beautiful. It should not be hated, feared, or degraded.
The original blog as been touched on time and again since finishing Peace Corps and now will catalog my endeavors into nursing as I pursue a degree through an accelerated training program. The program is 16 months of coursework, lab simulation and practice, and clinical experiences. My goal of becoming a nurse dovetails with graduate degree in global public health, my love for women and children’s health, and my desire to serve on the frontline of care
